11 years, one incredible journey: Celebrating Madison's work anniversary at Red Lobster
Madison rolls silverware, cleans tables and chairs, vacuums, and keeps things running smoothly at Tacoma’s Red Lobster.
Some milestones speak for themselves. Eleven years at the same job of showing up, giving your all, building friendships that last is one of them. We're celebrating our client Madison, who is marking her 11th work anniversary at Red Lobster, and has been part of the Centerforce family for 12 years. She's one of many longest-serving clients, and watching her grow into the confident, joyful worker she is today has been one of our greatest honors.
A day in Madison's world
Every shift, Madison shows up ready to work. Her duties at Red Lobster include rolling silverware, cleaning tables and chairs, vacuuming, and dusting. It is consistent, detail-oriented work that keeps a restaurant running smoothly and guests feeling welcome.
When we sat down with Madison recently and asked her how it felt to be celebrating 11 years, she didn't hesitate. She said it was incredible and that she truly loves working there, especially with the support of her Centerforce job coaches John and Manuel who have been by her side throughout her journey.
The friendship that makes it even sweeter
And there is a community she's built at work. Her coworker Tyaunna, who has worked alongside Madison for seven of those 11 years, is more than a colleague. She's her best friend.
Tyaunna said, about her friendship with Madison: “You are a bright light, sweet friend and a true blessing to everyone around you. Your effervescent personality shines in a way that makes people instantly feel joy. I'm blessed to be your best friend."
Seven years of working together. Seven years of friendship, laughter and showing up for each other. It’s employment and belonging. And belonging is something every person deserves.
Why long-term employment matters
Madison's 11-year tenure isn't just a personal milestone. It's a reminder of what’s possible when people with disabilities are given the right opportunity, support and environment to thrive.
Research consistently shows that employees with disabilities bring enormous value to the workplace:
Retention rates for employees with disabilities are significantly higher than the general workforce average. Some studies cite rates up to 72% better (U.S. Department of Labor).
Performance reviews show that 90% of employees with disabilities are rated average or above average by their supervisors in areas like attendance, productivity and workplace safety (DuPont Studies).
Businesses that actively hire people with disabilities report stronger team morale, reduced turnover costs, and more inclusive workplace cultures.
Madison hasn't just kept a job; she's become an irreplaceable part of a team.
Supporting employment every step of the way
At Centerforce, meaningful employment is our mission. It's why we work alongside individuals with disabilities to help them find, prepare for and succeed in jobs that match their strengths and interests.
For clients like Madison, our job coaches don't just help with the placement. They provide ongoing support so that clients can grow with confidence over time. And the results speak for themselves: 11 years, a best friend and a job she loves.
If you're an employer in south King, Pierce and/or Thurston counties who is looking to build a more inclusive workforce, we'd love to connect. We partner with businesses of all sizes to create hiring pathways and provide job coaching support — often at no cost to the employer.
